This poster shows characters wearing hardly any clothing with who seems to be the main character in the middle wearing only underwear, and what seems to be a cardigan which isn't on properly. This attire of the characters shows that they may be of lower class and don't have much obedience or self-respect. The main female character in the middle looks to be confused and unsure of what is happening.
There are two characters at the front of the posters kissing each other, they pay no attention to the camera whatsoever which shows they don't have time for it or are more busy. The intimacy shown between the characters is to show that love and sex could be key parts of the television series.
The scene of where the picture is being taken seems to be a bedroom. A bedroom is a main place where couples would have private sexual intimacy which again is a key part of the poster and of the show.
The bedroom is very unmaintained and looks like its nearly falling apart. This could have the intended purpose of saying that's how the characters of the show feel and act.
The colours of the poster are all very dull, dark and boring. There are no bright colours at all, and the main colours used are blues and blacks.
Skins Poster 2
This shows only one character on his own which shows loneliness for the character and even a depressing feel. The character is lying down looking directly up which is a sign on concentration although it is not fully clear if he is dead or alive. If the character is alive he could be in deep thought.
There is a main prop used and that is the bathtub that the character is lying in. As soon as you look at the poster you would know that it is set in a bathroom, due to the bath, shower gel, razor and soap. The bathroom used looks very dirty, run down and also unhygienic, this would reflect the character's personality and personal habits. It may also show how the characters life is (run down) and shows his emotion. The bathroom may have been chosen as the setting as bathrooms are usually a very private and personal place so it could show that the character is lonely or neglected.
The bathroom used is in extremely bad condition. The walls for example are cracked and also very stained. For the character to let his bathroom get into the condition it is in, would show that he either doesn't care and is a very unhygienic person, or that he has much more on his mind to worry about.
The main colours on the poster and dark greens and greys. The dark colours show the depression and also sadness of the character. The lighting used is low-key lighting and seems to be coming from the ceiling, you know about the lighting as you can see the shadows.
